About us
Rude Health Rocks was formed by two
experienced multi-disciplinary healthcare practitioners as a way
of addressing the needs of some of their busiest clients. The
aim was to provide an effective service without their clients
having to travel across town for a face-to-face appointment.
Much of what they did could be successfully delivered via the
telephone, so the concept of ‘Rude Health Rocks’ as a telephone based
service was born.
It brings together over 23 years of combined private practice
experience in holistic health and stress management by John
Nolan and Joy Taylor. Both have run successful independent
health care practices that serve professionals, business people,
and the self-employed. Their clients shared the need for a
service that was timely, effective and delivered in a
professional manner.
Both John and Joy started their private practices helping
people deal with the consequences of ill health. However both
realised that they could have greater impact by moving from
‘effect’ to ‘cause’, that is, helping people effectively deal
with the stress that seems to be responsible for so much ill
health. This gives them a unique approach amongst stress
management consultants in that they can both help with stress,
and where required, guide you to solve health problems that have
arisen because of that stress.

"It’s a shame when capable, intelligent people consider
themselves failures because they haven't yet found a way to
change their unhealthy habits for healthier ones. The process of
change can be quite complex and hard to do on your own. We guide
you through a proven process that puts you back in control of
your health."
John’s passion is to help individuals gain the maximum
freedom they can in their lives. He brings a no-nonsense
approach backed by a scientific and technically trained mind.
John has effectively turned his enquiring mind to helping people
solve their stress and health problems. He has a justified and
passionate belief that positive improvements are possible
whatever the problem or circumstances.
After years of working with many different people, John’s
conclusion is ‘being in control’ is the best thing a person can
learn to do to reduce their stress and improve their health.
Whatever the circumstances, ‘being in the driving seat’ can only
improve your life as you learn to proactively look after
yourself.
John’s professional approach compels him to undertake
continuous training and study giving him access to a vast amount
of varied knowledge and experience. This allows him to more
quickly make connections and come up with new ways of thinking
about common problems.

Joy Taylor
"We're not lettuce-munching, tree-hugging health fanatics;
we're friendly professionals with healthy attitudes towards
getting the most out of life by being in ‘rude health’."
My motivation to learn about health started after collapsing
with a mystery illness that took me out of work for 3 years. I
had no previous interested in being healthy. My areas of
interest were working hard then going out, boozing, going to
gigs, partying and travelling. ‘Live while you’re alive, sleep
when you’re dead’ was my philosophy, and I must admit, I had
more fun than most people I knew. As far as I was concerned,
being healthy was just boring.
Unfortunately my body had a mind of its own. It did what it
needed to get me to attend to its needs – it went on strike,
collapsed and refused to allow me to walk, eat or even talk
properly for months. At 23 years old I had turned from a
fun-loving-party-girl into an invalid.
By the time I was 24, I had decided to exchange my hopeless
frustration with being sick for a huge motivation to learn about
managing health and stress. Medical doctors were at a loss as to
how to help me, so the only solution was to work it out myself.
I found ways of improving my health using complementary
medicine, then resolved to train to a professional standard so I
could help others find ways to solve their seemingly unsolvable
stress and health problems. In 1994 I qualified as a Shiatsu
practitioner and a Cranio-sacral therapist and started in
private practice. By this time I’d turned my health around and
was highly motivated to help others do so too.
I’ve never stopped learning about proactive health care and
always looking for new insights into how to stay healthy and
manage stress. There’s a lot of rubbish advice out there to sift
through so I always try new strategies out for myself before
offering them as options to my clients. My updated philosophy is
‘Never let being healthy ruin your fun and don’t allow your fun
to ruin your health’.
